Jeremy is a born and raised Mason City resident. He attended North Iowa Area Community College for 2 years before graduating from the University of Northern Iowa. He briefly taught overseas before returning back home to Mason City. True is a lifelong educator and a proud advocate for quality education for all Iowans. He worked at Central Rivers AEA from 2008-2012, and has been an ELL teacher for Mason City Public Schools since 2012. Jeremy is bilingual and uses that skill to be able to connect with students throughout the Mason City Public School District.

In his free time, you will find True bringing great music to Mason City. He is a musician and has played in multiple bands around the Mason City area for the last 30 years, on top of giving piano, guitar and bass lessons to dozens of students.

Iowa House District 59 has been held by Rep. Sharon Steckman for the last 17 years. Sharon has decided to retire from public office, and is proud to pass her legacy onto Jeremy. “I have been so proud to represent northern Iowa, and while I am sad to leave this position, I am so excited to endorse another educator with a passion for our northern Iowa kids! Jeremy True will be an incredible advocate for our kids, education, AEAs, and working families. I know he will do a great job representing the voices of our community at the State House.”
